SHORT DESCRIPTION: Proposal to Modify Bearkat RAS

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants

DAYS AFFECTED: October 7, 2022

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT has received a proposal from Wind Energy Transmission Texas LLC (WETT) to modify the Bearkat Remedial Action Scheme (RAS).  The Bearkat RAS is designed to prevent a thermal overload on the 138kV line from Carterville to Einstein (CRTVLE_EINSTEN). The RAS will automatically perform remedial tripping in response to the specific contingencies of concern based on the terminal status of transmission terminals in the Bearkat area.  WETT's proposal recommends additional monitoring for overloads on the 138kV lines from Blissard - East Stiles - Rocky Road - Stiles (1510_B, RKYROAD_ESTILE,  RKYROAD_STILES) for an expanded specific contingency list and resulting remedial tripping configuration with the interconnection of Lacy Creek Wind.

The proposed modification to the Bearkat RAS is being reviewed by ERCOT.

ACTION REQUIRED:  Any comments on the proposal are due by 5:00pm on October 7, 2022 and should be submitted to [log in to unmask] using the attached comment form. Any questions or concerns submitted by this date will be addressed by ERCOT or WETT.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Information regarding all RASs can be found on the secure Market Information System (MIS) site under the Transmission page of the Grid section.
