SHORT DESCRIPTION: ERCOT Membership Application for 2023 Membership Year Now Available – Reminder and Additional Information

LONG DESCRIPTION: On October 3, 2022, ERCOT distributed the ERCOT Membership Application and Agreement (Application) for the 2023 Membership Year via email to all 2022 ERCOT Members. The Application for the 2023 Membership Year may be found on the Membership page of the ERCOT website at http://www.ercot.com/about/governance/members. A copy is attached. Market Participants may become, but are not required to be, ERCOT Members, subject to the requirements of the ERCOT Bylaws.
While the 2023 Membership Application includes changes from the 2022 Membership Application in setting forth examples of Membership rights, the rights of Members are controlled by the ERCOT Bylaws currently in effect, and the Application changes do not impact Member rights. The 2023 Membership Application is the means by which an entity may request to join as a Member for the 2023 Membership Year, in which case the applicant agrees to abide by the ERCOT Bylaws, as they may be amended from time to time, and any other rule or regulation duly adopted by the Board of Directors. The Membership Application includes a description of Member rights, but the ERCOT Bylaws are the controlling authority regarding such rights. A copy of the current ERCOT Bylaws is posted on the ERCOT website at https://www.ercot.com/about/governance, under Key Documents.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: All signed Applications for the 2023 Membership Year shall be submitted by email to [log in to unmask]. Given that the Application must be reviewed by ERCOT for approval, those interested in applying for Membership should do so well in advance of the Record Date of November 18, 2022, to avoid potential delays that could affect the start date of Membership (such as questions related to Segment eligibility and requests for additional information). Only applicants who have been approved as Corporate Members for Membership Year 2023 as of the Record Date shall be provided notice of and eligible to cast votes at the Annual Membership Meeting on December 20, 2022. However, an entity may apply for 2023 Membership after the Record Date and any time up until the end of 2023.
Please note that being registered as a Market Participant is independent from being a Member. Membership is completely optional and does not interfere with your Market Participant status.
