SHORT DESCRIPTION: ERCOT TLS1.0 and TLS1.1 protocol deprecation on ERCOT's Market Information System (MIS)

INTENDED AUDIENCE: Market Participant personnel who access ERCOT’s production and testing environments and User Security Administrators (USAs)

DAYS AFFECTED: November 2, 2022

LONG DESCRIPTION:  On November 2, 2022, ERCOT’s Production and MOTE/RMTE environments will be updated to only allow the TLS1.2 protocol for all programmatic access.

Due to changes in security industry standards, ERCOT is deprecating the TLS1.0 and TLS1.1 protocols used to access ERCOT’s Production Market Information System (MIS.ERCOT.COM). 

ERCOT’s MOTE/RMTE can be accessed through the following URL: https://testmis.ercot.com

ACTION REQUIRED: Market Participant personnel who access ERCOT’s production and testing environments will need to ensure that only the TLS1.2 protocol is used for all connectivity to ERCOT.  ERCOT encourages Market Participants to adopt these changes prior to the date listed as ERCOT already supports the TLS1.2 protocol. Failure to make the required changes on the Market Participant side can cause connection errors and will prevent access to ERCOT’s Market Information System.
