Friends of WMWG I can’t tell you how excited I am to share the following nominations for 2023 WMWG leadership. Both John and Colin are extremely capable and qualified as you can see in the bios below.

Bios for your consideration.
John Ritch has spent most of his professional career on the commodity/risk management side of the power industry. After a brief stint at Pacificorp, John worked for Reliant and its merchant generation affiliates from 1998 until
2012. At Reliant he managed retail supply for the ERCOT region during the transition to competition in 2002 and later managed the commercialization of the company’s merchant generation assets in PJM, MISO, NYISO, and ISO NE. Since 2012 John has worked for
NextEra in a variety of roles including retail supply management for Gexa Energy and in the Regulatory Affairs department where he represented NextEra at the PUCT and ERCOT. John is a member of the State Bar of Texas and a graduate of Harvard College.
Colin Walcavich is the Manager of Regulatory Policy and RTO/ISO Strategy at National Grid Renewables. With over 16 years of experience in the energy and finance industry, Colin brings a unique public and private sector experience
in wholesale power and transmission. Colin is responsible for developing and assessing regulatory policy issues and stakeholder management on various issues across multiple RTO/ISO, including; Capacity Market issues, Day-Ahead and Real-Time Energy energy markets,
and ancillary Service matters. Colin champions policies that contribute to a more efficient, competitive, and resilient electric grid by encouraging the development of competitive, transparent, and reliable power markets that focus on price formation/signals,
resource adequacy, transparent pricing, and completive equitable energy markets.
Prior to his current role, Colin represented National Grid LLC over eight years on cost-of-service proceedings, rate recovery, cost allocation, and transmission development and incentive policies. Colin led strategic initiatives in national
and state electricity markets focused on crucial market design issues before multiple RTO/ISO, including; PJM, SP, NE-ISO, and NYISO. While at National Grid, Colin supported multiple business functions, including risk assessment, financial reporting, project
financing, cost of capital, and return on equity issues. Colin also served on numerous technical committees i
Colin began his career at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, serving in various roles in the Office of Enforcement, Energy Market Regulation, and the Policy Innovation team, along with serving as a Commission Assistant on special
projects and policy advisor. Over his 10-year career at FERC, Colin focused on RTO/ISO policy matters in section 205 and 206 proceedings and served as project lead on the proposed rulemaking and technical matters. Colin has a Masters's Degree in Public Policy
from the University of Florida and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science.
