NOTICE DATE: May 25, 2023

NOTICE TYPE: M-A052523-01 General

SHORT DESCRIPTION: ERCOT Client Digital Certificate Expiration of Newly Issued Certificates at Less Than 365 Days

INTENDED AUDIENCE: All Market Participants, User Security Administrators (USAs)

DAYS AFFECTED: May 22, 2023, 22:00 - ongoing

LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT is experiencing an issue with Client Digital Certificate issuance where certificates are being issued that expire in less than 365 days. This is due to the ERCOT Client Root CA's expiration date of May 21, 2024. This does not affect the use of the Client Digital Certificate and its access to ERCOT's secure websites, only the length of time that the certificate is valid.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Existing Client Digital Certificates will continue to function until their expiration or revocation by the USA. Once the new ERCOT Client Root CAs have been issued by the certificate vendor, ERCOT will publish them to ERCOT.com.  MPs will need to add these new CAs to all browser or API keystores to ensure that new certificates can be used to access ERCOT's secure websites.

CONTACT: If you have any questions, please contact your ERCOT Account Manager. You may also call the general ERCOT Client Services phone number at (512) 248-3900 or contact ERCOT Client Services via email at [log in to unmask].
