NOTICE DATE: August 25, 2023

NOTICE TYPE: M-B082523-01 Retail Operations

SHORT DESCRIPTION: ERCOT is implementing alternative required methods of multi-factor authentication for accessing FlighTrak

INTENDED AUDIENCE: FlighTrak users

DAYS AFFECTED: September 1, 2023

LONG DESCRIPTION: Due to issues reported with Short Message Service (SMS) messaging and changes being implemented by ERCOT's multi-factor authentication (MFA) vendor, users testing in Flight 1023 must configure a method of MFA other than SMS messaging prior to September 1, 2023.  Due to the September 6 registration deadline for this Flight, any Market Participant not already enrolled who plans to test should make this update as soon as possible.

ACTION REQUIRED: FlighTrak users currently utilizing SMS messaging for MFA access to the FlighTrak application must contact the ERCOT Service Desk at [log in to unmask] to request a reset of their account's MFA setup. Users contacting the ERCOT Service Desk to request a reset of their account's MFA setup must mention "FlighTrak MFA" to ensure their ticket is routed appropriately.  Once the MFA reset is complete, users must configure either the Auth0 Guardian application or the Google Authenticator application on their mobile device as their MFA method.

Configuration instructions can be found in the document titled ERCOT Flightrak MFA Release Notes, which is located at https://www.ercot.com/services/rq/lse/trt/index under Key Documents.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In order to comply with the United States Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), on September 1, 2023, cell phone providers will begin blocking messages from numbers that are not properly registered and associated with an approved purpose, which will impact the deliverability of SMS messages used for FlighTrak MFA. ERCOT is in the process of registering the numbers used to send its SMS-based MFA messages, but this process will not be complete before September 1.

CONTACT: If you have any questions, please contact your ERCOT Account Manager. You may also call the general ERCOT Client Services phone number at (512) 248-3900 or contact ERCOT Client Services via email at [log in to unmask].
