NOTICE DATE: October 31, 2023
NOTICE TYPE: M-B102323-02 General
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Fuel Mix dashboard to be updated November 1, 2023
INTENDED AUDIENCE: All Market Participants
DAYS AFFECTED: Beginning November 1, 2023
LONG DESCRIPTION: The ERCOT Fuel Mix dashboard will be updated on November 1, 2023. The updates will include the following:
- The Maximum Capacity column will be removed. Because the Maximum Capacity values do not represent the actual capacity ERCOT reasonably expects to be available and are values provided at the time of a unit’s registration, they have caused some confusion and misinterpretation when displayed on the Fuel Mix dashboard. The Monthly Capacity is a more accurate representation of the available capacity each month, and therefore, will be used as the sole capacity value on the Fuel Mix dashboard.
- The Seasonal Capacity values will be replaced with Monthly Capacity values beginning December 1, 2023. With the introduction of the new Monthly Outlook for Resource Adequacy (MORA) report, there is now a more frequent advance look at resource adequacy. Values from the MORA report will be displayed in the Monthly Capacity column. Until December 1, 2023, the Seasonal Capacity values from the final Seasonal Assessment of Resource Adequacy (SARA) will be provided.
- Due to the reconfiguration of the columns, the Fuel Mix bar graphic will now be presented vertically rather than horizontally.
ACTION REQUIRED: No action is required. A Chromium browser should be used for best results. Users may need to clear their browser’s cache in order to view the dashboard updates.
