SHORT DESCRIPTION: New Investigation of Incorrect Ancillary Service Failed Quantity Calculations

INTENDED AUDIENCE: All Market Participants

DAYS AFFECTED: June 28, 2024 to present

LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT has identified new issues with the logic used in the calculation of Ancillary Service Failed Quantities.

Issue 1: The logic used to determine if a Qualified Scheduling Entity's (QSE's) Ancillary Service (AS) Supply Responsibility is being met by Resources in its portfolio (based on Resource telemetry) may not be correctly accounting for instances where a Combined Cycle Generation Resource with an Ancillary Service Resource Responsibility changes from one configuration to another configuration.

Issue 2: In the instance where there is an update to a Resource to QSE mapping change in registration, the Failed Quantity calculations for the previous Operating Day (OD) do not account for the Resource to QSE mapping change effective on the OD properly.

ERCOT is investigating these issues and will update the Market as soon as the solution and associated timeline for implementation is determined.
