NOTICE DATE: September 16, 2024

NOTICE TYPE: M-B091624-01 Operations

SHORT DESCRIPTION: 2024 Request for Information to Transmission Operators related to Reliability Standard Magnitude

INTENDED AUDIENCE: Transmission Operators

DAYS AFFECTED: September 16, 2024

LONG DESCRIPTION: On September 16, 2024, ERCOT issued a Request for Information (RFI) to each Transmission Operator (TO) in the ERCOT Region requesting information related to the magnitude criterion of the reliability standard recently adopted by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) in Project No. 54584 and 16 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) § 25.508.  The RFI for each TO is posted to the Market Information System (MIS).

Pursuant to 16 TAC § 25.508(b)(3), ERCOT is required to file with the PUCT by December 1 each year "the maximum number of megawatts of load shed that can be safely rotated during a loss of load event and a summary of the methodology used to calculate this value."  ERCOT will utilize TOs' responses to this RFI to inform its annual filing with the PUCT.  ERCOT will also file each TO's RFI response with the PUCT.

The PDF and associated Excel spreadsheet of the RFI are attached.

ACTION REQUIRED: Each TO in the ERCOT Region must send ERCOT its response to the RFI by 5:00 P.M. on October 21, 2024. This provides TOs with a 21-day response time and will subsequently provide ERCOT time to compile the responses and follow-up, if necessary.
