SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Joint CFTC filing by ISO/RTOs

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  February 8, 2012

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT has been working with other U.S. ISO/RTOs to jointly request an exemption from regulation by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) under the Dodd-Frank Act.  This notice is to inform ERCOT Market Participants that ERCOT, along with the California Independent System Operator Corporation, ISO New England, Inc., Midwest ISO, New York Independent System Operator, and PJM Interconnection, L.L.C.  ("ISO/RTOs") have filed their consolidated request with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission ("CFTC") for exemption from regulation under the Commodity Exchange Act ("CEA") for each of the respective ISO/RTOs.

A copy of the filing is posted on the ERCOT Website in the News/Reports/ISO-RTO section: http://www.ercot.com/news/presentations/#gov.

This filing begins the process of CFTC consideration of the ISO/RTO request for the CEA exemption. The next step in the process will be for CFTC to post the application for comment in the Federal Register.
