SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Update - Proposal to retire Elkton Switching Station Special Protection System
INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT has completed its review of the proposal from Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC (Oncor) to retire the Elkton Switching Station Special Protection System (SPS). The Elkton SPS was designed to monitor & relieve thermal violations on the Elkton to Forest Grove 138 kV line.



With the completion of the rebuild project to increase the static Emergency Rating of Elkton to Forest Grove 138 kV line, ERCOT is recommending that the Elkton SPS be retired.
The Elkton SPS is scheduled to be retired on March 15, 2016.
