NOTICE DATE: October 24, 2017
NOTICE TYPE: W-A102417-01 Operations
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Replacement of the Zorillo to Ajo Generic Transmission Constraint
INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants
DAY AFFECTED: October 30, 2017
LONG DESCRIPTION: In March 2015, ERCOT began enforcing the Zorillo to Ajo Generic Transmission Constraint (GTC) to resolve local area instability issues associated with existing and planned Generation Resources interconnected along the 345 kV transmission line from Nelson Sharpe to Rio Hondo. Since the implementation of this GTC, ERCOT has performed additional assessments based on the Full Interconnection Study for a new Generation Resource planning to interconnect along the Nelson Sharpe - Rio Hondo 345 kV line. These additional assessments have concluded that the current GTC needs to be expanded and the limits associated with the GTC be revised.
To address this, ERCOT is replacing the Zorillo to Ajo GTC with a new GTC named "Nelson Sharpe - Rio Hondo." ERCOT will begin enforcing the Nelson Sharpe - Rio Hondo GTC on October 30, 2017.
The purpose of this notice is to provide contemporaneous notification to all ERCOT Market Participants about these changes. ERCOT will cease posting limits for the Zorillo to Ajo GTC and begin posting limits for the Nelson Sharpe - Rio Hondo GTC on October 29, 2017.
Details associated with all existing GTCs can be found on the ERCOT MIS Secure Area in the "Generic Transmission Constraints" portlet. A Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS Secure Area.
