NOTICE DATE: August 8, 2017
NOTICE TYPE: W-A080817-01 Operations
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Removal of the Laredo Generic Transmission Constraint
INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants
DAY AFFECTED: August 17, 2017
LONG DESCRIPTION: The Laredo Generic Transmission Constraint (GTC) has been in service since September 9, 2015. This GTC was needed to resolve local voltage stability issues associated with imports into the Laredo area. Since the implementation of this GTC, ERCOT has performed additional assessments using updated network models. These additional assessments have concluded that there is no voltage stability issue in the area at this time. As such, the Laredo GTC can be removed.
The purpose of this notice is to provide contemporaneous notification to all ERCOT Market Participants about the removal of the Laredo GTC. ERCOT will cease posting limits for this GTC on August 17, 2017.
Details associated with all existing GTCs can be found on the ERCOT MIS Secure Area in the "Generic Transmission Constraints" portlet. A Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS Secure Area.
