*******TEXAS NODAL MARKET NOTICE*******
NOTICE DATE:  June 11, 2010
NOTICE TYPE:  Market Trials
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Nodal Control of ERCOT System (Frequency and Real-Time Markets) will be conducted next week during the System-wide 8-Hour LFC Test
INTENDED AUDIENCE: Qualified Scheduling Entities, QSEs with Resources, Resource Entities, Nodal Accountable Executives, Nodal Transition Project Managers, Market Trial Contacts
DAYS AFFECTED:  June 16, 17 and 18, 2010
LONG DESCRIPTION: For eight hours next week, command and control of the ERCOT system will be managed by Nodal systems. This 8-Hour Test window will occur on one of the following days:

 *   June 16, between 10:00 and 18:00

*         June 17, between 10:00 and 18:00

*         June 18, between 10:00 and 18:00

Support is expected from QSEs with Resources starting at 07:00 on the day of the test through the completion of the 8-Hour test. In addition, support is expected during normal business hours (08:00 to 17:00) during all other business days during the week of the test.

A Market Notice will be sent two days prior to each test day to announce if that day has been targeted to conduct the test. An additional Notice will be sent on the day of the test three hours prior to test start time.
In summary, ERCOT will switch over QSEs with Resources from Zonal frequency and Balancing Energy dispatch to Nodal frequency and Nodal Real-Time Markets to control the grid, noting that all settlements will be done through the Zonal systems. After the test window has been completed, including the operational scenarios and approximately 6-7 hours of Nodal control, Zonal systems will resume control. All control and switchover activities will be administered by ERCOT System Operators and announced as appropriate throughout the test period via hotline calls and Verbal Dispatch Instructions (VDIs).
