SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Implementation details of SCR764 - Public Access to Select MIS Dashboards

LONG DESCRIPTION:  On December 7, 2011, ERCOT will release the LMP Contour Map as part of System Change Request (SCR) 764, Public Access to Select MIS Dashboards. SCR764 was approved by the ERCOT Board on May 17, 2011, and it adds the following dashboards, which are currently displayed on the Market Information System (MIS), to ERCOT.com (with each implementation phase indicated):

*         Real-Time System Conditions - Phase 1

*         Load Forecast vs. Actual - Phase 2

*         SCED Up/Down ('Capacity Available to SCED') - Phase 3

*         LMP Contour Map - Phase 4

*         LMP Ticker - To be removed pending Board approval

The LMP Contour Map will display an image of the state that includes a county overlay and a visual representation of the Real-Time LMPs and both the Day-Ahead and Real-Time Settlement Point Prices at the Resource Node. The image that will be available offers a hover capability that will display the shortname and the price at the point. The LMP Contour Map will be available on both the MIS and the ERCOT website, and it will refresh with each Security-Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) run.

The graphic includes the options of a standard or high gradient display. The high gradient option is auto-calculated based on the minimum and maximum price variations across 33 values that update dynamically based on the current prices. The standard gradient is a set contour of prices that range across the fixed 33 values in the range of -$250 to $3000.

Also included in this phase are updates to the Real-Time LMPs for the latest SCED Run Display and Real-Time LMPs for Load Zones and Trading Hubs Display. A new column has been added to both of these displays to indicate the trending on prices from the last 5 minute SCED run. The displays will indicate an upward price trend in green with a '+' and value. Conversely, downward trends will be indicated in red with a '-' and value.

Technical changes to the architectural design were required in order to make the dashboards available to the public without performance impacts. As a result, dashboards that were available on the Markets - Real-Time Market Landing Page and the Grid - Forecasts Landing Page of the MIS will no longer display on those landing pages. The dashboards will remain available from the MIS Applications page.
