SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Billing of Sales Tax to Texas Wide Area Network (WAN) Sites

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  Market Participants with an executed ERCOT WAN Agreement

DAY AFFECTED:  February 17, 2012

LONG DESCRIPTION:  Per the Texas Comptroller, telecommunication services between locations in Texas are subject to state and local taxes.  Effective on the February billing of January 2012 services, ERCOT will begin charging sales tax on all WAN billing for sites located in Texas.



If your WAN site is located within the state of Texas and you are tax-exempt, please submit a Texas Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate to Kara Combest ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) by February 17, 2012.  If a certificate is not received from a WAN site located in Texas by this date, sales tax of 8.25% will be added to the invoice for that respective site.
