PGDTF:

We received an indication that some of you may have not received this e-mail or the next that I will be sending from Mark Lucas. We apologize if it did not get to you. Please see below.

Subject: UPDATE PSS®E GIC Workshop (PSSC 810) on March 5-6

PDGTF:
1. We request that non-ERCOT people RSVP (whether Attending or Not) to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]@ercot.com> (not Ben as previously communicated) on or before Wed Feb 21, 4:00pm CST. There is a conflict with Ben's address and the mail list.
To RSVP, please provide the following data: Student First & Last Name; Company Name & Address; Job Title; Work Email Address (note Phone Numbers are Not required)
Registration will be done by ERCOT providing the attendees information to PTI so that you get the discounted rate ($1,398.35) and you do not have to register by their website which does Not list this date or venue.

2. We have relaxed the restrictions for employees-only of participating TSPs; if you are a contractor, (or prefer to send your contractor), please include in the RSVP a full-time-employee's clear recommendation for the subject person to attend as a representative for your organization. The FTE employee's clear full name, title, and company name should be in the signature or other part of the email.
Any contractors should obviously be someone already very familiar with your models and using PSS-E. "Visitors" from non-ERCOT market participants are Not allowed.

3. We will be having breakfast and lunch both days - the lunch menu will be distributed and accommodations made (as possible) for any health (allergies) or dietary restrictions (vegetarian).

4. To simplify the equipment process, SIEMENS/PTI will provide training licenses and dongles (for version 34.3.1). Instructions will be provided after you register with PTI. A company issued laptop with Administrator Privileges, Windows (v7 Enterprise SP1 preferred) and a Browser is all that is needed. MS Office and Outlook are not required.

5. Our goal is to use the forthcoming GIC system model during the training. This will be available via ERCOT's secure MIS, (requiring your digital certificate previously used to download earlier models). Instructions will be provided after you RSVP.

6. We highly recommend viewing the video “GIC Calculations Using PSSE”.

There are two GIC videos in this link - watch the one at the top of the list. We do NOT recommend "Calculating Geomagnetic Induced Currents (CICs) for Geomagnetic Disturbances (GMDs)", it is outdated.

Previous Information

· Workshop venue: Texas Reliability Entity (TRE) https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.texasre.org_Pages_About-2DUs.aspx&d=DwIF-g&c=trp9rTvIdyEWh1VWB5x8_2JiPaB5oGZOtWPDws2_VoY&r=LSCEyADss-GLNJicW8iG5D5hJ2MBK7jaKKau346v3cs&m=rVszuGATsbYbso_Ikf35xOaWhomTc1tTotjket_32Cs&s=lKcvk38eEBGGlfHbYOJMcpdTID9uX3-CijDM6k0BNEQ&e=
TRE is 12 miles west of the Austin airport AIBA; If you are staying in a hotel near the MET (or the airport), please be aware that your commute to TRE may easily take > = 30 minutes.

· On Monday March 5. due to traffic and other factors we will have coffee and check-in from 9:00-9:30a; session start at 9:30a. We will have a catered lunch around 12:30p, and will end the day at 4~4:30p.

· We realize that some of you are participating in the System Protection Working Group (SPWG) March 6-7 and we have requested that the SME/instructor perform analysis on your models as early as possible on Tues so you can depart for the ERCOT MET center before noon. We have also requested the SPWG adjust their morning agenda in light of this situation. We are aware others are participating in the PGDTF meeting March 7-9; if there is anything we can help you with please ask.
